This was my first real hike in Canada, but I chose a difficult one (in terms of hiking, not scrambling). Wedgemount Lake Trail is located in northern Garibaldi Provincial Park, 11km north of Whistler. So, it was a relatively long drive from White Rock, our home. The trail is very steep and narrow. Since it was our first hike, we did it in a slow pace. Once breaking the treeline, the views suddenly open up. It was my first time standing in front of snow coverd peaks and alpine glacier fed lake. We didn’t venture further to the glacier, nor trying to scramble up the mountains. The weather was overcast, so the highest mountain in this region, Wedge Mountain, was hidden in clouds. But even so, the views were great. One year later, I came back to this region with a mostly suny sky and my new camera, and the view was certainly better. In the future, I will come back again to scramble Wedge Mountain.
