This was my second time to Garibaldi Lake, but definitely my first real winter outing, that is, to hike on top of thick snowpack. The temperature was mild, and wind was calm. Just like the first time, we stopped at Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver to take a break and take pictures, then continued to drive to Rubble Creek Parking Lot, 37km north of Squamish, the trail head. Our plan was to go as higher as we could. Since we didn’t have snowshoes, we could only stay on other people’s track to avoid or minimize post-holing. The farthest we got was near Black Tusk Meadows. The sky cleared after I decended back to Garibaldi Lake. I also tried to go further into the lake, for about one hour. But the view didn’t change too much.
